What shared folders are
You can use System Manager to share folders on your storage system. When your system is first installed and CIFS is configured in Workgroup mode, a login named "administrator" is automatically created. You can use this login to access shares with a blank password.
System Manager uses the CIFS protocol to enable you to set up and control access to shared folders on your storage system. You can share folders with both local users and remote users. Also, you can configure share and NTFS file system permissions at the folder level. These permissions apply to the folder, all the files in that folder, all subfolders, and the all files in the subfolders. Files and folders that are created in or copied to a folder inherit the permissions that are defined for their parent folder.
